If you shot a water cannon into the crowd at any BMO field soccer match, chances are good you’d hit at least a handful of people with theories on how to popularize professional soccer in North America.
All of the usual arguments would still apply: it’s not a native sport here, it’s slower paced than hockey, guys dive all the time etc etc. But every one of them would have an idea for how towns like Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Edmonton can make pro soccer work.
