Edmonton soccer team out $79,000 for Germany trip

A group of young soccer players from Edmonton are struggling to come to grips with the likelihood they have been defrauded of almost $79,000 by a man who was supposed to organize their trip to Germany.

The boys, 13 and 14-year-old members of the city’s Scottish United soccer club, along with coaches and parents, spent months fundraising and preparing for the trip which was to take place during their spring break late last month.

The group of 28, including players and coaches, were to spend the vacation training with some of Germany’s best, and attending two professional soccer matches.
