FIFA Rankings: Canada #4, Canada #63
Canada keeps CONCACAF fourth in FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings
Canada’s men’s national team is still the fourth-ranked nation amongst CONCACAF countries in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings released today (April 2008). The top-eight CONCACAF countries did not switch places within the confederation, although most made small moves up or down in the world rankings.
Within the CONCACAF top-10, Haiti moved up to 9th place while Trinidad & Tobago moved down to 11th. Mexico (1), the United States (2) and Honduras (3) are still the top-three ranked CONCACAF nations.
Canada lost its lone international friendly match in March, an 0:2 loss to Estonia on a snow-filled pitch in Tallinn. Canada’s next international friendly is scheduled for 6 June against Panama in Panama City.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year.
Canada’s men’s national team is currently preparing for the 2010 World Cup South Africa Qualifiers. Their first qualifying match is 15 June in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.
