Impact Academy Blasts St Catharines
MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact Academy clinched the first home win in team history, Saturday, with a 5-0 victory against the St Catharines Wolves, at Saputo Stadium. Forward Yannick Rome-Gosselin, with three goals in the first half (5th, 10th and 22nd minute), midfielder Kevin Cossette (70th minute) and forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel (78th minute) scored for the Academy.
Academy goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, made key saves, to sign his first shutout of the season.
“The goal today was to be open. Open the heart to play with emotion and open up the goal scorers and that is exactly what we did,” said Academy head coach Philippe Eullafroy. “I am very satisfied with my team today.”
“We have had problems scoring goals in our previous matches but this result will be good for our confidence,” declared Rome-Gosselin. “We were creative offensively and solid defensively that is why we had such a positive result.”
The Impact Academy will play its next home match at Saputo Stadium against the York Shooters on June 26 at 1 pm.
