I will be regularly blogging my random (and I repeat, random) thoughts throughout the Olympics. What’s on my mind? Read on to find out!

01. How spine chilling was the Chinese anthem before their game against Sweden? I’m a huge national anthem buff and the Chinese anthem is quite patriotic (how could it not be?). To have the entire crowd sing along…awesome stuff. And, this is just the tip of the iceberg—I’m sure we’ll be hearing the anthem many a times the next few weeks, and everyone will be singing “Cheeee laaaaai!” (that was my sad attempt to phonetically spell a part of the anthem) by the end of August!

02. Congratulations to New Zealand for earning their first ever point in a FIFA world championship event. The Ferns have made huge improvement since their three straight losses at the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup last fall and are showing that they are no longer soccer minnows. Coach John Herdman has prepared his team well and women’s soccer will only continue to grow with NZ playing host to the first ever FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup later this year. Good stuff.
