Chris Wondolowski converted a 34th-minute penalty kick to tie Dwayne De Rosario atop the MLS scoring leaderboard, yet fell just short in his bid to become a back-to-back Golden Boot winner as the Quakes pounded FC Dallas 4-2.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL – The Chicago Fire spoiled the Columbus Crew’s bid to clinch a top-three seed in the Eastern Conference at Toyota Park on Saturday night, getting a late goal from forward Diego Chaves to beat Columbus 3-2 in both sides’ regular-season finales.

WASHINGTON, DC – Sporting Kansas City needed a win on Saturday night against DC United to clinch first place in the Eastern Conference, and defender Matt Besler’s delivered, firing home the winner in the 54th-minute to earn SKC a 1-0 win on the road to close out the regular season.

VANCOUVER, BC — It wasn’t pretty, but the defending MLS Cup champions got the result they came for.
Substitute Wells Thomson scored an 84th-minute goal to earn the Colorado Rapids a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in front of a sellout crowd of 21,000 at BC Place on Saturday evening. The result secured the Rapids home-field advantage in the club’s midweek Wild Card playoff match, while breaking the Caps’ three-match winning streak.

TORONTO – Danny Koevermans scored with seven minutes to play to lift Toronto FC to a 2-2 draw against New England at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon in a battle between two teams that finish the season at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

HARRISON, NJ — The New York Red Bulls booked their place in the 2011 MLS Cup playoffs with a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union at Red Bull Arena on Thursday night in a game they dominated from start to finish.
