MLS Faces Dilemma

You have to hand it to commissioner Don Garber and Major League Soccer.

The recent announcement that MLS would welcome investment from the England’s Premier League sure sounds innovative and exciting. It may be a tad unrealistic though, based on the current landscape of player discontent, poor salaries, a few weak markets, comparatively small television revenues and a standard of play that is still way off the mark to compete with the global elite.

Potential foreign investors will surely want to see improvements in these areas before committing any long-term funding.
