CHESTER, PA – The Philadelphia Union’s first-ever MLS Cup playoff game was spoiled by another first: the Houston Dynamo’s first-ever victory over the Union.

In front of 18,539 fans at PPL Park on Sunday evening, Houston got goals from Andre Hainault and Calen Carr to edge host Philadelphia, 2-1, in a an emotionally charged Eastern Conference Semifinal game.

Hyped for days as the marquee bicoastal rivalry, the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinal between the New York Red Bulls and the LA Galaxy proved to be every bit as impassioned and controversial as you’d expect from true rivals.

And when the final whistle blew, the Supporters’ Shield-winning Galaxy left Red Bull Arena with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a first-half goal from Mike Magee.
