Our Goal Is To Win Gold

LANGLEY, BC (BCSB) – There’s something about Randee Hermus. It’s hard to put a finger on at first. When talking soccer, she seems laid back and smiles freely, and yet there’s nothing light–hearted about her passion for the game. There’s something burning just beneath the surface – a quiet intensity that becomes more obvious as conversation progresses.
Randee is an athlete on the verge of a dream. She is a member of Canada’s women’s soccer team, who will make their first ever appearance in the Olympics when they take to the pitch this week in Beijing.
The culmination of a lifetime of dedication and hard work is at Randee’s fingertips. And however willing she is to crack jokes and reminisce, her desire to win is no laughing matter.
Randee’s road to the Olympics began in childhood. Much like any kid growing up in the Lower Mainland, she played soccer, baseball, and other sports in her youth. She began to focus on soccer when she made the provincial U-18 team at age 15.
