Notes
Attendance was about 125 on this game moved from Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke. The game started at 9:00 pm on the Ontario Soccer Centre’s main field about five minutes after the last kid’s practice was over.

This should be the last weekend any of the games have to be rescheduled as the City of Toronto workers ended earlier in the week. The headlines were all about the mounting garbage but parks were neither maintained nor available and swimming pools (that personally effects me the most) were not open.

White Eagles captain Sasa Viciknez could have had more than his one goal if he’d converted on the penalty kick or at 54 minutes when he had a breakaway at 35 yards and chipped the goalie from 22 yards with the goalie out at 15 yards but the ball hit the crossbar and was cleared.

London City held on for the first half and always seemed to have that last defender back to prevent 2 on 0 breakaways. They didn’t get many chances to score on White Eagles goalie Marko Petrovic who earned the shutout (usual first stringer Dan Pelc was not listed as a sub). When the fourth official informed both teams of four minutes of extra time in the second half (a few injuries and picking balls out of the net), a player on the City bench said “Can you make it two minutes?”.

There have been a lot of player chances since I last saw City play back on May 24th but it’s hard to believe that their only point of the season was their home game of June 26th against White Eagles when they earned a 1-1 tie. I’m sure the White Eagles have been waiting the whole month for the rematch. Dropped points hurt them in their run at undefeated Toronto Croatia in the tough International Division.
