Notes
Attendance was about 30 on this cool night with a drizzle falling well before the game started and all during the first half then it becoming a full downpour for all of the second half. I was able to hide out under a canopy but it was placed even with the north goal line so it was hard to see details of what was going on in the south end.

This game was broadcast live on Rogers Community channel.

This was a matchup of the first (Attak) and eighth (PFC) place teams and the difference in caliber showed. I thought the rain on the natural grass would be the great equalizer but three events left PFC with no chance. Their most experienced defender Danny Amaral could only go 18 minutes before pulling up lame in the PFC end and had to be subbed; Gustavo Serrano just had to score on that Penalty chance; and PFC had no chance of making a comeback when they went a man down at 66 minutes.

Attak assistant coach Celine Quesnel said the team arrived from Trois-Rivieres at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon so they would be well rested for this game. They were returning home immediately after this game and I could see the team bus in the parking lot on my way out of the stadium.

Andrei Badescu earned the shutout for the Attak. I heard before the game that he had not played on their team before. The Attak is the team that I have seen the least this year; only my third time whereas every other team I’ve seen between five and eleven times. Actually the last time I saw them was August 14th when they played Portugal FC to a 0-0 tie at Lamport Stadium. David Lamoureux was the goaltender in that game.

The second game in this series will be in Trois-Rivieres next Saturday. Attak hold a 1-0 in the series. If Portugal somehow wins that game, a half hour mini game will start immediately following that second game.
