Ottawa Fury push to top of Great Lakes Division. Laval Comets win two more.

Amy Walsh’s 51st minute goal gave the Laval Comets their first win of the 2009 W-League season in a 1-0 shutout of the London Gryphons

The Ottawa Fury W-League team began their 2009 season with a 3-1 win over the London Gryphons at North London Stadium in London.

The Toronto Lady Lynx and the London Gryphons battled to their second consecutive 1-all draw this afternoon at North London Stadium in London.

Despite outshooting their guests by a 28-9 margin, the Lady Lynx could only manage a one-all draw with the London Gryphons in their 2009 W-League home opener.

Attendance was about 250 on this mild evening with it cooling off after it got dark in the second half.

Attendance was about 1000 on this cool and rainy day. The crowd was full of children for a special School Day promotion. A school choir sang both the American (for London?) and the Canadian anthems but probably because they’d practiced both.

For 2009, its 15th season, the W-League will have 7 Canadian teams playing in 2 divisions.
