Coach Valerio Gazzola has named 18 players for Canada’s men’s U-20 team roster for the upcoming camp and competition in Valencia, Spain.

It will be a big weekend for Canada’s national soccer teams, leading up to the televised Canada-Argentina match this Monday on May 24.

Canada’s men’s U-20 team played to a 0:0 draw against Japan today in an international friendly match in Heemskerk, Netherlands.

The 12-day camp runs May 13-24 in and around Alkmaar, Netherlands. Amongst the camp activities, Canada will play international friendly matches against Egypt and Japan.

The Canadian Soccer Association has named Valerio Gazzola as Canada ‘s new national men’s U-20 head coach. Gazzola will assume his responsibilities immediately as the team begins preparations for the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship.

Attakora, Stewart named Canadian U-20 Players of the Year. Teibert, Raymer named Canadian U-17 Players of the Year.

Canada was eliminated from the 2009 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship after a 1:2 loss to Costa Rica.

Canada’s men’s U-20 team won 2:0 over Mexico in its second match at the 2009 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship.
