FC Gold Pride and the Boston Breakers opened their Inaugural Season of WPS Action, facing off at Buck Shaw Stadium on the campus of Santa Clara, CA. The Pride took the first of three cross-coast meetings between these teams, by a score of 2-1.

The results of the draft included the selection of 10 players from Brazil, four from Japan, three from Australia and three from Canada.

WPS made its official debut at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) annual convention, taking place through Saturday in Baltimore.
