Once upon a time, Vancouver led North America in youth development.

The Ontario Soccer Association’s 2012 Soccer Conference wound up Sunday April 29th. The main theme of this year`s conference centered around the OSA`s adoption and implementation of the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) program across Ontario.

LTPD means a genuine emphasis at the early ages on individual skill development, and moving away from focusing on scores and winning and losing in those early years.

The Montreal Impact and Portland Timbers have been selected to join the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, The Impact U18 and U16 teams will join the Academy for the start of the 2012-13 season.

This new program will provide coaches with player-centered development tools and resources.

The Winstars Soccer Consulting and Academy focuses on professionally-centered soccer development, preparing elite players for U.S.- Collegiate and worldwide pro-league competitions.

After many long years of ineffectual stewardship, the CSA is now bringing in a sweeping blueprint for long-term player development (LTPD).
