Toronto Boca Jrs Take Ontario Futsal Cup 2010
OTTAWA, ON — The Ontario Futsal Cup completed the first of two weekends as it hit the road, traveling to Ottawa for the Men’s division. With teams traveling from parts of the GTA, Niagara, and Ottawa, the stage was set for a full-out battle to snag the Provincial title. Taking place at the modern and spacious Carleton University gymnasium The Raven’s Nest, the Men’s teams were treated to first class facilities and to a first class competition.
The Ottawa area has been a longtime hub of Futsal activity. With four of the competing Men’s teams hailing from the Ottawa area, it was clear that Futsal was a sport much loved by Ottawans. In fact, this year marks a milestone for the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League. In honour of the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League’s 20th Anniversary, The Ontario Soccer Association created a display and celebration to recognize this significant achievement. Congratulations to the League, and best wishes for many more years of continued success.
The first day of the Ontario Futsal Cup was tough, and teams were strong. With one goal in mind, teams battled, seeking their place in the semi-final and ultimately the final. The seven teams competing in group play were as follows:

Four teams advanced to the Semi Final on Sunday, and in a near sweep by the Ottawa teams, the match-ups were as follows: the Toronto Boca Jrs vs the Ottawa Crushers and the Ottawa Quattro Stelle vs the CUFC Ottawa. The second day of competition was just as grueling as the first, and the intensity rose as teams fought their way into or were outplayed of the final match.
The final match brought the Toronto Boca Jrs against the Ottawa Quattro Stelle. Both the winners of their groups, the teams were fit to fight for the win. The game started strong by both teams, but the Toronto Boca Jrs got on the board early, and made their presence known. More goals followed, as the Boca Jrs established their role and dominance in the game.
The Boca Jrs would score eight more goals in the match, with the Ottawa Quattro Stelle only scoring one. It was worth the drive to Ottawa for the Boca Jrs, as they brought home the Provincial title with a final score of 9 – 1.
