Two Additional DPs, Good Move For Toronto FC

TFC poised to profit from expanded DP rule
Major League Soccer’s decision to expand the designated player ruling to a maximum of three is a good move for the league, but it’s especially good for the lone Canadian franchise, Toronto FC.
Ten teams have taken advantage of the DP ruling since its inception three years ago, but it is interesting to note none of the users of this provision has actually won the MLS Cup. (Though Columbus won the MLS Cup in 2008, Guillermo Barros Schelotto didn’t become a DP until last season, and current Houston DP Luis Angel Landin wasn’t with the team for its last title win in 2007.) Expect that to change in the very near future.
